Air Lock
Air Lock
An air lock can occur when the spa is drained and refilled. It is caused by the pump(s) getting air into them when the spa is empty. After filling your spa and turning the power on if the pump(s) run, but no water is coming from the jets, the spa is air locked. Perform the following steps to force the air from the pumps:
- Press the jet button on and off a couple times on the topside control to help prime the pump(s). If the jets still do not move water, proceed to step 2.
- With the filters removed, use a bathroom plunger on each of the filter suction lines. Try the pump button on the control panel. If the pump(s) still do not move water, you will need to get into the equipment area under the spa. At this point, call Crystal Pools spa service department for more information or to schedule a service call.
*NOTE: To help prevent air locks in the pumps, place your garden hose down into the left suction line when refilling and leave the filters out when first turning on the spa. After the spa pump(s) are moving water, you may install the filters.
Another helpful hint is, when draining your spa, do not remove all of the water in the foot well area. As long as the lower suctions remain covered by water, the pumps should not air lock.
