Spa Water Chemistry
Water Chemistry
Acceptable Limits:
PH: 7.2-7.6
Free Chlorine: 1.0-3.0
Total Chlorine/Bromine: 1.0-3.0
Calcium Hardness: 125-200
Total Alkalinity: 80-125
Raising Calcium (1oz./500 gallons - increases 7ppm)
Add _________ oz of Liquid Calcium Hardness Up into the spa with jets turned on. Can be re-tested after 20 minutes.
Raising Alkalinity(2 1/2 Tbs./500 gallons - increases 10ppm)
Add _________ Tbs. of Alkalinity Up directly to spa with jets running. Re-test after several hours. Add additional as necessary.
Lowering Alkalinity(1 1/2 tsp./500 gallons)
Add _________ tsp. of pH Down with jets on - circulate for five minutes. Turn jets off. Re-test. Repeat as necessary until proper range of 80-125 is reached.
Lowering PH(1 1/2 tsp./500 gallons)
Add _________ tbs. of pH Down with jets running. Allow 4 to 6 hours of distribution, and then re-test. Repeat as necessary, until proper level is reached (7.2-7.6).
Increasing PH(Below 6.8 add 4 Tbs./500 gallons)
Add _________ Tbs. of pH Up with jets running. Allow 4 to 6 hours of circulation. Re-test. Repeat as necessary, until proper range of (7.2-7.6) is reached.
Lowering PH/Alkalinity(For high pH and Alkalinity)
Add 1 oz of Spa Decrease to bucket of water. With jets running add diluted solution to spa water. Wait 1 hour and re-test. Repeat as necessary, until proper range is reached.
Raising PH/Alkalinity(For low pH and Alkalinity)
Add 1 oz of Spa Increase to spa water with jets running. Wait 1 hour and re-test. Repeat as necessary, until proper range is reached.
